Delete your account

You can permanently delete your China Essentials account and associated data in the app. If you cannot access the app, you can still request deletion by email.

Delete your account in the app

1. Open China Essentials and go to Profile → Settings → Delete account.
2. Read the permanent-deletion warning.
3. Type DELETE exactly as shown.
4. Select Delete account. The final button remains disabled until the confirmation text matches exactly.

The app deletes the server-side account first. After that succeeds, it clears account-scoped data from the device and returns to the signed-out screen. If server deletion fails, the app does not report success and keeps the account session usable where possible.

If you cannot access the app

1. Email [email protected] from the email address used for your China Essentials account.
2. Use the subject Delete my China Essentials account and include the account email address. Do not send your password, one-time code or identity documents unless support specifically requests a safe verification step.
3. We will confirm the request and may ask you to verify control of the account email.

What will be deleted

After the request is verified, we will delete the active China Essentials account and associated server-side records, including:

• the Supabase Auth user and login email;
• profile and onboarding information;
• synchronised packing, checklist, guide, lesson, flashcard, city and university progress or preferences;
• China Essentials beta or premium entitlement records associated with the account.

Deleting your China Essentials account does not delete accounts or activity you may have with Apple, Google, WeChat, Alipay, Brevo, social platforms or any other third-party service.

Data on your device

The in-app flow clears account-scoped local data on the device used for deletion after the server confirms success. It cannot erase offline data stored on another phone that is no longer connected. Clear China Essentials app storage or uninstall the app on each other device where you used it.

What may be retained

We may retain limited information where reasonably necessary to document and complete the deletion request, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or protect service security. Residual copies may remain temporarily in routine service-provider backups until those backups rotate. App-store transaction or download records are controlled by Apple or Google under their own retention policies.

Timing and questions

We aim to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days. If law permits or requires a different period, we will explain that in our response. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
